The Organizing Committee is pleased to welcome members and guests of MPS to the 2021 Special Meeting of the Mont Pelerin Society, to be held at Universidad Francisco Marroquín in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
Guatemala is known as the land of eternal spring due to its lush vegetation and temperate climate. With its modern international city, colonial towns, mayan sites, active volcanoes, and black sandy beaches, it has something to offer every visitor.
We have chosen two well-known hotels, which are connected by an internal corridor, as lodging for the event. Located in the nightlife district on Avenida de la Reforma, it is only a short ride to the MPS 2021 venue.
Universidad Francisco Marroquín is located in a ravine-turned campus in the center of the city. Surrounded by trees and native plants, it is an oasis of peace away from the hustle and bustle of city life. With its own arboretum, ponds, gardens and greenhouses, it offers students and staff a variety of spaces for quiet study and reflection.
Venue
The UFM Cultural Center is composed of the Juan Bautista Gutiérrez Auditorium, the Ixchel and Popol Vuh Museums, the Lienzo de Quauhquechollan exhibition, the Convention Center, New Media, and The Film School. These elements are organized around a covered space called Plaza de la Libertad, which, with its overhead lighting, serves as a lobby and a center for student, academic, social, and cultural activities.
The plaza won the First Place in the Urbanism category of the Excellence Award sponsored by the Guatemalan Chamber of Construction. This building is the beating heart of creativity at the university.
Internet. Free access to a high-speed internet service will be available through UFM´s Ama-gi Wi-Fi Network. No password is required. UFM will also provide a Business Center for all your needs.
Hotels
We recommend staying at The Westin Camino Real or the Biltmore. Both are very modern, offering a variety of services, including an outdoor pool, tennis courts, and fitness center. They are in fact linked by an internal corridor, and are minutes away from local shopping and entertainment opportunities as well as from our conference center at UFM.
Shuttles. Transportation will be provided continuously to and from the lobby of The Westin Camino Real, taking about 10 to 15 minutes to reach the University.
